Chelsea want Anthony Gordon and are already considering a second bid after Everton rejected their first offer for the Newcastle United target.

The Blues have brought in big additions in Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly and Marc Cucurella, but they are also looking towards the future.

The signing of Aston Villa talent Carney Chukwuemeka showed that Chelsea are hoping to add young English talent for the years to come.

Chelsea may well look for other exciting English players, and one target appears to be playing under former Blues hero Frank Lampard.

Chelsea want Anthony Gordon

Everton winger Gordon is now on Chelsea’s wish list but their initial approaches for the wide man have fallen short.

The Times report that Chelsea are showing a real interest in signing Gordon and could even include players in a part-exchange deal.

Lampard has been interested in a number of Chelsea players this summer with strikers Armando Broja and Michy Batshuayi both on Everton’s radar.

It may well be that Chelsea now look to offer one of those players – Broja maybe only on loan – in order to tempt Everton into selling Gordon.

BBC Sport report that Chelsea have put £40million on the table for Gordon but Everton have said no.

Chelsea are now considering a new offer already, with the Blues pushing hard to secure Gordon’s signature.

Everton have already lost one key attacker this summer with Richarlison leaving for Chelsea’s London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

The Toffees would loathe to lose another player from their attacking setup, especially with Dominic Calvert-Lewin out through injury.

Add in that Gordon is a homegrown fan favourite and it’s obviously a tough call for Everton to sell the 21-year-old wide man.

Gordon, branded ‘really special’ by pundit Dean Ashton, has shown promise in the Everton side but is far from the finished product.

Newcastle United were considering a new offer for Gordon just days ago having failed with a £35million bid earlier this summer.

It now seems that Chelsea are pushing ahead of Newcastle in the race for Gordon, but Everton will continue to be a tough nut to crack.
