Newcastle United still want Anthony Gordon and could turn to the Everton winger as their pursuit of James Maddison continues to stall.

The Magpies are still seeking attacking reinforcements and have been looking at wide options.

Moussa Diaby has been to expensive to prise away from Bayer Leverkusen, and it’s a similar story with Leeds United ace Jack Harrison.

Newcastle have been looking at more of a playmaker in James Maddison but failing to sign him means they’re back onto wingers again.

Newcastle United still want Anthony Gordon

The Chronicle report that Newcastle are now considering a new move to prise Anthony Gordon away from Everton.

It’s stated that Newcastle did offer £35million for Gordon earlier this summer but Everton said that he wasn’t for sale.

Yet Newcastle are now ready to make a new move for Gordon in the hope of finally tempting Everton into a deal.

Everton have already sold one attacking player this summer by allowing Richarlison to join Tottenham Hotspur.

Losing Gordon too would be a huge blow but Everton do need to bring in money to reinvest into their own squad, and Newcastle may now be willing to throw money at a deal.

Gordon, 21, featured in 35 Premier League games last season and picked up four goals as well as two assists.

That may not sound all that impressive but Gordon has been described as ‘really special’ by Dean Ashton and is being tipped for a huge future.

Everton fans would hate to see one of their own leave but they have been here before with Wayne Rooney and Ross Barkley.

Everton may have felt that they were out of the woods over Gordon’s future, but Newcastle coming back in means it will be a nervy few weeks until the transfer deadline for Toffees fans.
