Kevin Campbell has claimed that the media would have suggested that Tottenham Hotspur would ‘challenge for the Premier League title’ if they signed Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko, but the reaction is going to be different for Arsenal, as he told the Highbury Squad.

The former striker thinks the media’s reaction to the Champions League-chasing side having Jesus and Zinchenko on their books next season will be a case of ‘we will see’.

Both Arsenal and Tottenham have been pretty busy in the summer transfer market, with Jesus being Mikel Arteta’s standout purchase, Spurs adding Djed Spence to their ranks on Tuesday and their rivals now closing in on Zinchenko.

The Manchester City defender is headed to America, where the Gunners are preparing for the new Premier League season, as he would be the fifth new face to sign for the club if the deal goes through.

Jesus and Zinchenko won four Premier League titles during their days at the Etihad, as Campbell shared what the reaction what have been like if Tottenham signed those players instead.

“Oh, incredible, they would have said ‘Spurs are going to challenge for the title because they are bringing winners in’,” said Campbell. “They are bringing winners and players who know how to get over the line.

“They are bringing players in, who have been there, seen it and done. Been under the most pressure and performed. But come to Arsenal and it’s ‘we will see’.”

WHO WILL FINISH HIGHER – TOTTENHAM OR ARSENAL?

Antonio Conte made a huge difference in Spurs pipping their bitter rivals to Champions League football last season, but who will finish higher ahead of the new Premier League campaign?

Both will be in Europe, so the scheduling will be gruelling for them both and it’s paramount that they add much-needed depth this summer.

One thing is for sure, the fans can’t argue because their teams are being backed by those upstairs and it wouldn’t be a surprise if more faces are still added heading into August.

For once, Tottenham and Arsenal have been pretty efficient and direct in the transfer market, including bringing in their new names before pre-season can really kick in.

Tottenham’s big-money arrival was Richarlison for £60 million, whilst Arsenal paid £45 million for his Brazil teammate, Jesus, who is hoping to battle his fellow countryman for the Golden Boot next season.
