Mohamed Salah’s future and contract situation at Liverpool has been a huge talking point.
Liverpool outclassed Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday, with Salah providing two assists and scoring a goal.
Rather than Liverpool‘s dominant performance over an abject Manchester United side being the main talking point, it was Salah’s post-match comments that stole the headlines.
It has been well-documented that the 32-year-old is out of contract at Anfield next summer, with supporters wondering if he will sign a new deal or move on after a trophy-laden career at the club.
The player himself told Sky Sports that ‘this is my final year at Liverpool’ and ‘nobody has talked to me’ about a new deal.
Cesc Fabregas, who is now head coach of Serie A side Como 1907, shared his thoughts on Salah’s comments and what he knows.
Liverpool fans would have been hoping that Salah would provide positive news and perhaps be a little bit upbeat about his future.
But his latest comments have got many worried, with Fabregas adding that he is ‘sending out a clear message’ to the powers that be.
The legendary midfielder added ‘I think knowing Mo a little bit’ that this will turn out to be Salah’s final season at the club, as he told Planet Premier League.

“I think he doesn’t care what’s happening (in terms of changes in the Liverpool boardroom), he wants to just be told what’s happening,” said Fabregas.
“Once he made that statement, it’s because he has thought very, very well about what he wants to say and is sending a clear message. I believe he is telling the truth. I don’t know if he is looking for a new contract. Maybe yes, or maybe I am being naive here.
“But I think knowing Mo a little bit, he will send a message because he really feels that this is his last year and he will move on in the end – I don’t know how Liverpool works, but they always come across to be taking good decisions. On players, staff, directors and how they do business. From what I think and what I see in football, I think they are a very stable club. They have very clear ideas of what they want to do. How they want to do it. They have plans ahead. That’s why I talk about how surprising it is about the situation of Mo Salah or van Dijk because they come across as always having the right plan ahead for the future. They have a great feeling about how things should be done and I respect that.”
Give Mohamed Salah a new contract
Liverpool have signed Federico Chiesa from Juventus and you wonder if he, in the long term, will be Salah’s replacement.
But the powers that be in the Anfield boardroom should see common sense and do everything in their power to hand the Egyptian new deal.

On paper, he might be 32, but he is performing nowhere near that level many his age, as he has proven during the early stages of the new season.
What’s interesting here is what is Slot thinking. You sense he would love for Salah to stay because he isn’t the only one out of contract.
Real Madrid-linked Trent Alexander-Arnold also has less than 12 months left to run, including captain Virgil van Dijk, so a big few months ahead for the club.
