Can Tottenham register Danjuma? Many Spurs fans have asked this on Google after the north Londoners hijacked the Dutchman’s move to Everton.

Tottenham have agreed a deal to take the Netherlands international on loan from Villarreal for the remainder of the 2022/23 campaign, with an option to buy him permanently at the end of the season.

It comes after the 25-year-old had already passed a medical with Everton, and also completed his media duties ahead of a move to Goodison Park.

However, the Premier League do not allow for unlimited loans in one season – with Clement Lenglet and Dejan Kulusevski already on loan at Spurs, some have wondered if the Villarreal No.9 can even be registered.

So, can Tottenham register Danjuma? Let’s take a look…

Can Tottenham register Danjuma?

Well, it is quite a complicated scenario.

As per the Premier League’s official website, clubs in England’s top-flight “may not register more than two players on loan at any one time”.

However, the Premier League’s official website also states that the “maximum number of loans registrable in the same season is four”.

Those seem to be contradictory statements, although it would appear that the first line quite literally means two loans cannot be registered at the exact same time.

Therefore, despite already having Lenglet and Kulusevski on loan from Barcelona and Juventus respectively, Tottenham are able to register Danjuma in the Premier League.

Premier League sides are not allowed to take more than two players on loan from another Premier League club, meaning Spurs couldn’t have Manchester United duo Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Scott McTominay on loan at the same time, for example.

Those in England’s top-flight are also unable to take more than two players on loan from other English sides – for example, Spurs couldn’t sign someone on loan from Crystal Palace if they already had loans from Everton and Brighton.

However, Danjuma will be arriving from a club outside of England, so it is irrelevant that they already have Lenglet and Kulusevski.

For example, Fulham had more than two loans back in the 2020/21 campaign when registering Joachim Andersen, Alphonse Areola, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ademola Lookman, Mario Lemina, Ola Aina and Josh Maja.

It is quite a confusing scenario, but despite the legalities surrounding the deal, Tottenham can register Danjuma.
