Kevin Campbell thinks it’s still a ‘fantasy’ for Arsenal fans to secure the transfer of Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix, who is heading to Graham Potter’s Chelsea on a loan deal, as he told The Highbury Squad.

The Arsenal legend says Chelsea needs ‘snookers’ this season given their struggles in the Premier League and in domestic cups, as pressure mounts on Potter, despite only recently replacing Thomas Tuchel.

Well, one step Chelsea are taking in order to resolve their issues, especially up front, is by adding Atletico Madrid’s struggling star Felix to their ranks, it has been suggested they are paying a £9 million loan + wages for the 23-year-old.

Those are lengths Arsenal clearly aren’t willing to go down, despite needing a forward added to their ranks this month following Gabriel Jesus’ injury.

Last January, Mikel Arteta and Edu opted against bringing in a new player, despite binning off Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is now struggling at Stamford Bridge.

Well, Campbell shared that he feels Arsenal aren’t willing to push for Felix because he doesn’t meet their criteria.

“Apparently with Joao Felix, Chelsea have met the loan fee,” said Campbell. “You are always going to get that type of thing where the opposition can come in.

“Chelsea needs snookers, at the moment, don’t they?! Let’s be honest. They have been terrible. They have been brutal to us in the past. At the end of the day, have some of that.

“Us Arsenal fans, it’s still a fantasy and dream to have a Joao Felix or whatever coming in and being linked with your club. It’s nice. It’s fantasy.

“But one thing Mikel Arteta, Edu and the backroom team have done. They don’t just look at the name. They look at, number one, do you fit? And two, are you an upgrade on our playing staff? If you are one of the two, then they aren’t going to go for you. You need to be an upgrade and a fit.”

‘NO PROJECT’ AT CHELSEA AMID FELIX DEAL

There are some who are raising their eyebrows at this Felix deal because of how much Chelsea are paying for the player, even for a short-term deal.

The Portugal international has been dubbed a ‘top player’ by European football expert Julien Laurens, but he warned that there is ‘no project’ at Chelsea.

After splashing the cash in the summer, and that a record amount, those in West London have gone backwards.

Well, it seems as though their answer to their current issues is to throw more money at it, if this doesn’t work, then many of Chelsea’s rivals will be laughing from afar.
