Phillies star Bryce Harper wants LeBron James in his city, inviting the four-time NBA champion to join the Philadelphia 76ers.
With LeBron James in free agency for the first time in eight years, there are several NBA teams trying to land the 41-year-old superstar.
Even in his advanced age, James is a superstar-caliber player who can make a huge difference for teams. And one MLB superstar recognizes the value he brings.

Bryce Harper wants LeBron James to join the Philadelphia 76ers, but expects Cleveland Cavaliers reunion
Speaking ahead of the MLB Home Run Derby, ahead of the 2026 All-Star game, Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper gave a simple pitch for LeBron James to join the 76ers.
Harper pointed to new arrival Jaylen Brown and the team’s overall strength, along with the team’s fanbase, as reasons to join, before conceding that James is likely to join the Cleveland Cavaliers.
“Oh man, Jaylen Brown? Their whole team? They’ve got an opportunity. They’ve got four guys that are really good, got a great fanbase.
“I think he’s going to back to the Cavs, but not really sure what that would be like for him.”
Mitchell made a similar argument to Bob Myers, who serves as the president of Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, the organization that owns the Philadelphia 76ers.
However, given the team’s salary commitments to Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, and the recently arrived Jaylen Brown, their lack of cap space will limit them from providing James the depth he would look for.
LeBron James likely to choose between Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors
As things stand, LeBron James is seemingly leaning towards returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers for a third stint to end his career.
However, recent reports have suggested Draymond Green and him had a conversation that has James considering the Golden State Warriors more seriously than he was before.
There is a certain irony in the Warriors and Cavaliers battling it out for James, given how James led the Cavaliers to four straight NBA Finals against the Warriors between 2015 and 2018.
Wherever James lands, he will be eyeing one final NBA championship win to close out his career and walk away from the game.
