Frank Leboeuf has stated that Chelsea have to sign Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp transfer target Enzo Fernandez during the January window, but he warned that it isn’t enough for Graham Potter’s struggling side.

The former Chelsea defender added that it’s potentially ‘lots of money’ for the Benfica and Argentina midfielder, but if he fits the profile, then he should be signed.

After spending over £200 million in the summer, Chelsea could go on a bit of a madness again in the market, the same might not happen on Merseyside, though.

Yes, Cody Gakpo has arrived, but as Liverpool proved once again during their defeat at Brentford, there are clear issues, especially in the middle of the park.

If Todd Boehly was in charge of the Reds, then he would be splashing the cash left, right and centre. But instead, Fenway Sports Group (FSG) want to sell up.

Nonetheless, when talking about the possible Enzo Fernandez transfer, this is what Leboeuf had to say, as he told ESPN.

“They have to (get Enzo Fernandez),” said Leboeuf. “But it’s not enough. On top of having to get rid of some players. They need more players. They need players who fit Potter’s way of thinking. Players who are capable (of dealing with) the pace of the game.

“If Enzo Fernandez can do so, then yes, you have to bring him. It’s lots of money. Will it be enough? I don’t think so.”

ENZO FERNANDEZ TRANSFER TO CHELSEA

Whilst Jurgen Klopp admires Enzo Fernandez, it seems as though he will be heading to Stamford Bridge.

It’s been suggested that a £112 million deal has been agreed for the World Cup-winning midfielder, which would be a record-transfer in the Premier League.

From Liverpool’s perspective, whilst they are looking at a midfielder of Fernandez’s ilk, surely they can’t be fussed about missing out on him if he is being sold for such money because it is inflated, added in with World Cup tax.
