Jamie O’Hara told talkSPORT that Ben White is making a big step up to a ‘huge’ club in Arsenal.

This comes after his fellow pundit, Danny Mills, questioned White’s decision to potentially sign for Arsenal after rumours they have had agreed on a £50 million fee with Brighton for their star centre-back, as reported by BBC Sport.

White is currently out on his holidays after being part of England’s Euro 2020 squad and he is set to finalise his move to North London upon his return.

But when O’Hara was told about Mills’ comments on White, he shut down those claims and shared that Arsenal are making a ‘great signing’.

“I disagree with that if I am totally honest,” said O’Hara. “I think it’s a great signing. I think he’s a brilliant player.

“I enjoyed watching him for Brighton last season. He’s very good and he looked good for England as well.

“How can you not say it’s a step up? How can you say it’s not showing ambition by signing for Arsenal? They are still a huge football club, with top players and world-class players in their squad.

“It’s a big move for him. £50 million, they have invested in him. He (Mills) says ‘Oh, why aren’t clubs like Manchester City or Liverpool coming in for him?’. Well maybe, they don’t want him.”

White will have to swim straight into the deep end when his move to Arsenal is confirmed and this will be the first big pressure test of his career.

He faced some of that heat in the Championship with Leeds and he came through that with flying colours.

But this is England’s top-flight, playing for a club that should be challenging for titles and this is where Arsenal fans will be hoping he can, not only deliver the goods, but also make those around him better.
