Jermain Defoe has labelled Chelsea striker and Tottenham transfer target, Romelu Lukaku, as ‘unplayable’, as he told Vibe with Five.
The former Spurs forward added that he is a ‘big fan’ of the struggling Chelsea superstar that won the Serie A title with Inter Milan last season.
Following his £98 million move to Chelsea in the summer (BBC Sport), the Belgian’s return to the Premier League and to Stamford Bridge hasn’t gone as planned.
That striker who was scoring goals for fun under Antonio Conte – 24 in Serie A alone – has managed only five in the Premier League this season – three of which were scored by September.
Therefore, it isn’t a surprise that Chelsea could part ways with the player in the summer already – although they will need new owners to be able to conduct deals – as Spurs, and a certain Conte, are keen on his talents.
Defoe, who recently retired, was one of England’s top strikers during his peak years, as he shared that he loved watching the movements Lukaku would make a forward.
“Big fan of Lukaku,” said Defoe. “I remember watching Lukaku at Inter. I remember watching him and I used to think he is ‘unplayable’.
“His movement. He used to do those opposite movements (pretend to go one way, but dart towards the other direction). He would be off. Powerful.”

Chelsea first of all need new owners before deals can be conducted, but this Tottenham, Conte and Lukaku rumour is an interesting one.
Spurs have Harry Kane, so if he stays, there is no reason for the north London club to push for Lukaku.
But, at this moment in time, he hasn’t signed a new deal and his future at the club is up in the air.
It would be a surprise if Lukaku did make that move to Spurs, even if Kane left and even if Conte is still in the Hotspur Way dugout.
Plus, given what Chelsea paid for the player, they aren’t going to part ways with him just like that because of how much they paid for him.
