According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Romelu Lukaku is unhappy at Chelsea and wants to leave, amid interest from Tottenham.

What’s the story?

Well, it was Eurosport who revealed that Spurs could sign the £97.5m striker from Chelsea in the summer window.

Lukaku has endured a difficult season since returning to Stamford Bridge in August, scoring just five goals in 19 Premier League appearances.

Now, it sounds as if the Tottenham target is already trying to leave Chelsea.

Tavolieri believes Lukaku could change his agent as he tries to force an exit from Chelsea, with the Belgium international looking for solutions.

Interestingly, despite the 28-year-old’s odd comments about a potential return to the San Siro earlier this season, Tavolieri cannot see him rejoining Inter Milan.

The Belgian journalist told Calciomercato: “In the near future he could change agents. He is not happy, he is looking for solutions. I don’t see Inter as his probable destination. If he comes back, more than for football and for the money, it will be for his personal pride.”

Tottenham should make a move for Romelu Lukaku

In our view, Spurs should at least try to sign Lukaku, as he has a strong relationship with Antonio Conte.

The former Manchester United striker said the Italian “really helps” him, and provides a lot of motivation.

As quoted by the Daily Mail, Lukaku said: “My rapport with Conte is very strong, as he is a coach who really helps me. At the age of 26, I want a coach like this, who helps me every day and gives me motivation.”

These aren’t just words – the numbers speak volumes.

In 95 games under Conte, Lukaku has impressively scored 64 goals, while also providing 17 assists – an incredible return, to say the least.

Together, they won the Serie A title last season, before financial issues for Inter Milan separated them.

The pair work very well together, and if Tottenham have the money, then it wouldn’t hurt to at least make a bid for the disillusioned goalscorer.
