Has Darwin Nunez signed for Liverpool?
In a word, no – but it’s getting closer.
In the early hours of this morning, Benfica published a statement on their official website and revealed that they had indeed reached an agreement for Liverpool to pay £85 million for the player.

In the statement, the Portuguese outfit disclosed that they had written to the Securities Market Commission to confirm the above.
However, Benfica also stipulated that the agreement is ‘dependent on the signing of the player’s sports employment contract with Liverpool FC’, indicating that the Uruguay international hasn’t officially put pen to paper just yet.
At midnight, reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that an announcement would come in the ‘coming hours’, having seemingly undergone a medical yesterday.
Darwin Nunez hasn’t signed for Liverpool yet, but it couldn’t be any closer to being finalised and Jurgen Klopp will be delighted.
Remember, this is the same player who tormented Klopp’s Reds side during a Champions League tie this past season, scoring in both legs of the quarter-final defeat to the Premier League outfit.
With Sadio Mane reportedly set to leave, getting his replacement in first significantly lessens the pressure on Fenway Sports Group here.
