Bayern Munich President Herbert Hainer has been speaking about the future of Germany superstar Jamal Musiala, whose current contract expires in less than two year’s time.

With this in mind, several of Europe’s top clubs are said to be interested in the 21-year-old, who has been at Bayern Munich since 2020.

Musiala joined the German giants from Chelsea’s academy, and has since developed into one of the world’s best attacking midfielders – being named in the Bundesliga Team of the Season for the last two campaigns in a row.

Unsurprisingly, Bayern are determined to keep hold of him, amid continued reports linking Musiala with Manchester City.

Bayern Munich will do ‘everything’ to keep Jamal Musiala

Nevertheless, Hainer asserts that the Bavarian club won’t let Musiala leave without first pleading their case, stating in a recent interview with Bild: “We want to try everything to keep him as long as possible”.

Musiala is already a star of German football, having ended his Euro 2024 campaign as joint-top scorer on home soil.

Indeed, TalkSPORT pundit Darren Bent branded Musiala the best player at the Euros earlier this summer.

In club football he has been just as devastating, scoring 10 league goals in 24 appearances during the 2023/24 campaign. In a season to forget for Bayern fans, his form and continued improvement proved to be one of the few rays of light.

Herbert Hainer likens Jamal Musiala to Thomas Muller

This form hasn’t gone unnoticed, as the youngster has already been likened to a Bayern and Germany legend.

“In my opinion, he could become the second Thomas Müller,” Hainer added.

“He could stay here [at Bayern] for the next 20 years”.

Whether Musiala will remain in South Germany beyond 2026 remains to be seen. Given the midfielder’s previous links with Chelsea and his family ties to England, a return to the Premier League is not out of the question.

While Musiala looks set to remain at Bayern for the foreseeable future, uncertainty over the superstar’s contractual situation will have many at the club worried.
