Rangers have reportedly decided to offload midfielder Glen Kamara for a fee of £10million in the January window – and Leeds seriously need to consider reigniting interest from the summer and bringing the Ibrox ace to Elland Road.
Kamara, 26, joined Rangers less than four years ago in January 2019 – but has already clocked up 168 appearances for the Gers. In that time, he has also established himself as first-choice in Finland’s midfield, winning 46 caps.
But this season, Giovanni van Bronckhorst has preferred to use John Lundstram at the base of his midfield. Kamara has started just six of the 14 Rangers matches in all competitions. Now, the Gers are ready to cash in on the midfielder.
The report claims Aston Villa are favourites to land Kamara, and that is probably unsurprising. They need a midfielder and obviously, Steven Gerrard worked with Kamara – having signed him from Dundee while manager at Rangers.

Leeds need to consider Rangers midfielder Kamara at just £10million
But Leeds need him too – and were linked with Kamara in the summer. Marc Roca and Tyler Adams has been excellent so far in the middle. The duo have combined so well that it has allowed Leeds fans to forget about Kalvin Phillips.
However, the duo have started all six of the Yorkshire club’s Premier League matches. Behind them, the drop off in quality is noticeable. While Adam Forshaw and Mateusz Klich are good players, they lack the necessary quality to start.
It means that Roca and Adams will continue to start, without competition. Forshaw is about to turn 31, and Klich is 32. Forshaw is out of contract at the end of the season, while Klich has been linked with the exit door in recent months.
So, to continue getting the best out of Roca and Adams, Leeds need strength in depth. At just £10million, they would be adding that in the form of Kamara. But the threat and challenge of a reunion with Gerrard will be tough to beat.
