HITC understands that Aston Villa have indeed been offered the chance to sign Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion.
Aston Villa have been busy in the summer transfer market with Unai Emery’s side making a plethora of top-class additions to their squad as they prepare for their first season in the UEFA Champions League in their modern history.
Villa have signed Amadou Onana from Everton and brought in Ross Barkley from Luton Town but it is the attacking area that the Midlands club are looking at ahead of the transfer deadline.
Moussa Diaby departed Villa for the Saudi Pro League and sources have told HITC that the Villains have been offered the chance to bring in a forward.
Aston Villa offered Samu Omorodion deal
HITC understands that Villa have been offered Samu Omorodion and they are assessing the situation. Villa are in the market for a new striker with Jhon Duran’s situation far from certain.
We had reported that West Ham were keen on Duran with the Hammers even open to a loan deal if it meant bringing in the promising forward. Duran came off the bench against West Ham and struck the winning goal for the Villains in East London.
West Ham couldn’t agree terms with Duran and signed Niclas Fullkrug but the club still want the forward with just days remaining in the transfer window.
For Villa, they are assessing their options and head of football operations Monchi has been approached about Samu – who saw a move to Chelsea fall through at the last minute.
Atletico Madrid have brought in both Alexander Sorloth and Julian Alvarez from Manchester City this summer and allowing Samu to leave is part of their summer plans.
Villa among Premier League sides showing interest in Omorodion
HITC has been told that Villa are interested and have held initial conversations about bringing in the Spanish forward to Villa Park this summer.
As well as Emery’s Villa, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Newcastle United are also among the sides who have been offered Samu and have been doing some checks on the 20-year-old.
As well as teams in the Premier League, sources have told HITC that Spanish side Real Sociedad and Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen are also understood to be keen on the forward.
Last season for both Atletico and Deportivo Alaves, Omorodion featured in 34 La Liga games and scored eight goals in Spain.
