Aston Villa are reportedly ‘pressing’ ahead to sign Romelu Lukaku this summer who is attracting interest from Serie A.

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa have certainly been busy in the transfer market this summer with the club on embarking on UEFA Champions League football for the first time in the club’s Premier League era.

Villa have signed Everton midfielder Amadou Onana and have also added Luton Town midfielder Ross Barkley to their ranks, for his second spell at Villa Park.

As well as the addition of two midfielders, Villa have also signed Chelsea left-back Ian Maatsen, who was excellent for Borussia Dortmund during their Champions League campaign.

However, it appears as though Villa are not stopping there.

Villa ‘pressing’ to sign Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku

Forward additions have been looked at as lower down the priority list, particularly with the impact made by Ollie Watkins under Emery.

However, with Moussa Diaby leaving the club this summer for the Saudi Pro League, perhaps another forward addition may be a smart decision.

According to a report from Italian outlet Calciomercato, Aston Villa have not given up hope that they could land the Belgian.

Chelsea are continuing talks with Atletico Madrid to land Samu Omorodion with the Italian report stating that the Blues are keen to move Romelu Lukaku on sooner rather than later.

As for Lukaku, HITC has reported that Chelsea want £34 million for the Belgian forward whilst Villa are said to be ‘pressing hard’ to sign the former Everton ace.

Lukaku makes his feelings clear on return to the Premier League

HITC has previously reported that Lukaku would be keen to move to Napoli to link up with Antonio Conte once again after the pair’s successful spell at Inter Milan.

Chelsea were in talks with Napoli over Victor Osimhen with Lukaku heading in the opposite direction but with the signing of Omorodion, it is unclear if the Nigerian remains a target.

If Napoli can’t get a deal over the line then Villa will surely have to believe they have a chance to sign the Belgian.

However, despite Villa reportedly pressing, HITC understands that Lukaku has made it clear to suitors in England that he does not want to return to the Premier League and instead wants a move to Napoli.

Perhaps this is a gentle nudge to Napoli that they need to hurry up and get a deal over the line for Lukaku before it’s too late.
