Fernando Kallas has stated that Villarreal ‘need the money’ amid transfer rumours that Unai Emery’s Aston Villa and Everton want to sign Arnaut Danjuma in January.

The Spanish football expert added that Danjuma was a ‘key piece’ in Villarreal securing Europa League glory under Unai Emery, but now a possible transfer could be ‘good for both sides’ – the player and his parent club.

With Emery looking to bolster his attack after the signing of left-back Alex Moreno from Real Betis, it isn’t a surprise that Danjuma is a name on the club’s transfer wishlist.

But the Midlands outfit might have a fight on their hands because Frank Lampard’s Everton are also keen on the 25-year-old – his current deal at Villarreal expires in 2026.

In truth, the Toffees need attacking quality and someone with a goalscoring touch more than Villa because they are deep-rooted in a relegation battle.

Although given Emery’s connection with the player, Villa will feel they have an advantage in signing Danjuma, either way, this is what Kallas made of the winger and Villarreal’s situation, which is a boost to both interested parties, as he told The Transfer Show on Sky Sports (11/01/23).

“He was a key piece for Villarreal with Unai Emery when they won that Europa League title,” said Kallas. “His stock is very high right now. Villarreal needs the money, so I think it’s good for both sides.”

DANJUMA ‘ONE OF THE BEST’ ACCORDING TO, WELL, HIMSELF…

One thing is for sure, the former Bournemouth player isn’t a shy character and he does back himself, including once calling himself ‘one of the best’ wide players.

In Villa’s quest to move up the table and secure European football, then that type of confidence and character is needed out on the pitch.

The same can be said for Everton near the bottom because the mood around Goodison Park is pretty low and Lampard needs players that will be brave on the ball and Danjuma would provide just that.
