Kevin Campbell has claimed that if Carlo Ancelotti was the Arsenal manager, then he would have the ‘power, as he told the Highbury Squad.

The Real Madrid boss is currently preparing for the Champions League final against Liverpool next week – his chance to win a record-breaking fourth European crown.

Ancelotti was managing in the Premier League last season and he did beat Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal at Goodison Park.

A lot has changed since that time, including Arteta getting rid of the likes of Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

That was something Unai Emery – who is now thriving at Villarreal – wasn’t able to do, as Campbell shared it was because he ‘never got hold of the dressing room’.

But he made it clear that Emery’s inexperience in the Premier League had nothing to do with that, as he used Ancelotti as an example.

“Let’s say Arsenal got Ancelotti,” said Campbell.

“Let’s say he hadn’t managed in England, because he has come to Arsenal and he’s not managed in England, then he won’t have the power?!

“No, I don’t think so. I think he would – I am not saying Emery isn’t a bad manager. I am saying that he never got hold of that dressing room.”

ARTETA’S RUTHLESS CALLS BITING ARSENAL IN THE SHORT-TERM

Arteta has made some bold, yet ruthless calls during his time at the club, including booting out Ozil.

The German World Cup winner moved to Fenerbahçe – and was suspended by the club this season, perhaps Arteta was right, after all?

His replacements have effectively been Martin Odegaard and Emile Smith Rowe – both shining lights this term.

So, perhaps, as Arteta gets criticism for selling Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, as they now miss out on Champions League football, just like Ozil, that call will be a lot clearer down the line.
