Arsenal lead the race to secure the transfer of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. But while he dreams of moving to the Premier League, the Nigerian would love to join Bayern Munich.

That is according to Sky Germany, which reports that Osimhen views the English top-flight as a dream destination. Yet the 24-year-old longs for a chance to switch to the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich. But the Allianz Arena natives are not targeting his signature this year.

Der FCB do not plan on signing forwards when the market opens after Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting signed a contract extension. The 33-year-old has risen to the task of filling the void Robert Lewandowski left. So, the record Bundesliga champions extended his deal to 2024.

Osimhen eyes a move to Manchester United with Bayern Munich waiting to 2024

Now, the Bavarians intend to tackle next season with Choupo-Moting supported by Sadio Mane, Thomas Muller and 17-year-old Mathys Tel. So, Bayern Munich see Osimhen more as a potential target for 2024 when the striker will only have one year left on his contract.

Osimhen, though, plans to leave Napoli this summer, so has identified Manchester United as a preferable destination. The 23-cap star believes Erik ten Hag’s style of play will match his skills. Yet Chelsea, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are in the mix for a swoop.

Arsenal lead the race to strike a deal with Napoli for the striker’s transfer

Arsenal, however, lead the race to agree on a deal with Napoli for Osimhen’s transfer, per Ciro Venerato. The Gunners are favourites despite the Azzurri wanting €150m (£131m) for the 24-year-old’s signature. President Aurelio De Laurentiis is loath to accept lowball bids.

Osimhen has convinced Arsenal to target a transfer having fired Napoli to the top of Serie A this season. He has 19 goals and five assists in 22 appearances in the Italian top-flight so far this season. The forward also has four goals over five outings in the Champions League.

Arsenal will not have an easy run at Osimhen’s transfer as his efforts for Napoli have a raft of rivals pursuing deals, as well. 90min reports that De Laurentiis has not put Chelsea off a deal by demanding €150m (£131m). The Blues see him as their top striker target for 2023.

Manchester United, too, are preparing to target the striker Jamie Carragher has likened to Cristiano Ronaldo as he scores ‘Ronaldo-esque’ goals. Calciomercato has reported the Red Devils are ready to bid £107m to edge out interest from Liverpool in his potential transfer.
