Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are leading the race for Chelsea target and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, according to Rai journalist Ciro Venerato in Tutto Napoli.

The Italian journalist has reported that Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United all want to sign Osimhen from Napoli in the summer transfer window.

The Italian club will not sell the 24-year-old Nigeria international striker for anything less than £150 million (£133 million).

Venerato has added that Arsenal are now the favourites for Osimhen and are leading the race.

Italian news outlet TMW reported in December 2022 that Arsenal are among the clubs who want to sign Osimhen from Napoli in the summer transfer window.

The report claimed that Newcastle United and Bayern Munich are also keen on the 24-year-old Nigeria international striker, described as “very promising” by Arsenal midfielder Jorginho in Football Italia in February 2023.

Arsenal leading Chelsea and Manchester United in Victor Osimhen race

The journalist said, as translated by Sport Witness: “For now, the big clubs only speak with the entourage of the striker. Paris Saint-Germain boast dated relationships with De Laurentiis.

“After the deals for Ezequiel Lavezzi, Edinson Cavani and Fabian Ruiz, it could be Osimhen’s turn, protégé of Campos and Gaiter (at Lille).

“The Premier League remains, Arsenal favourite, Manchester United-Chelsea duel. High bar for the price tag. The far-sighted De Laurentiis is asking for €150m for his star player.”

Exciting

In our view, Victor Osimhen would be a brilliant signing for Arsenal and would make the Gunners much better and more potent in attack.

The 24-year-old is one of the best strikers around and has been superb this season.

The striker has scored 19 goals and given three assists in 20 Serie A starts for Napoli so far this season.
