Arsenal’s reported interest in signing Lyon star Houssem Aouar could see the French side join Rangers in the race for Nimes midfielder Zinedine Ferhat, according to French media.
Le10Sport report that after Nimes’ relegation to Ligue 2, Ferhat would be top of their list of potential replacements for Aouar as Rangers mull over a bid for the Algerian international.
Rangers have been linked with Ferhat for a while now after he netted six goals for Nimes in their fight to beat the drop, chipping in with a further 9 assists.
Aouar looks destined to leave Lyon this summer with Arsenal, Spurs, Atletico Madrid and PSG all named as potential suitors for the Frenchman.
Rangers have already signed Fashion Sakala, John Lundstram and Nnamdi Ofoborh this summer but it doesn’t appear that Steven Gerrard’s transfer business is concluded yet.
The likes of Lyon and Strasbourg (who have also been linked with Ferhat) would be tough competition to lure Ferhat away from French football but the prospect of Champions League football, competing for titles and working under an icon in Gerrard would definitely be enticing.
Ferhat would add to exciting signings so far for Rangers
With the Gunners due at Ibrox for a friendly next week, Rangers will have their fingers crossed Mikel Arteta’s side don’t inadvertantly cause them problems in the transfer market.

The signings that have arrived at Ibrox this summer so far have excited Rangers fans as the Gers prepare to defend their Scottish Premiership title.
Ferhat’s arrival would fill something of a problem position for Gerrard and allow him to utilise Kemar Roofe and Ianis Hagi in roles more suited to their ability.
