The well-known and well-respected journalist has reported that Tomiyasu has agreed personal terms with Arsenal.
The Gunners will pay Bologna an initial transfer fee of €20 million (£17.18m), according to Romano.
The Telegraph (Transfer Live blog, 10:55am, August 31, 2021) reported this morning that the Japan international, who can operate as a right-back or as a centre-back, will undergo a medical today.
We covered the report here on HITC Sport.

Exciting update for Arsenal fans
Tomiyasu is a very good and promising young defender who is versatile and is only 22 years of age now.
Tottenham Hotspur reportedly want(ed) to sign the Bologna defender, and that indicates just how highly he is rated in the footballing community.
Arsenal are well stocked in central defence, but the Gunners do have an issue at right-back.
Hector Bellerin is not the same player he was before his injury problems, and there is speculation that he could actually leave for Real Betis on transfer deadline day.
Tomiyasu scored two goals in 31 Serie A appearances last season, and scored one goal and gave three assists in 29 league games in 2019-20.
