Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are close to agreeing a transfer fee with Bologna for Takehiro Tomiyasu, according to The Telegraph (Transfer Live blog, 10:55am, August 31, 2021).
It has been reported that Tomiyasu will complete a medical in Italy before signing for Arsenal on summer transfer deadline day.
Arsenal will reportedly fly out a doctor from the medical department this afternoon.

And now, it seems that a transfer is about to happen.
Tomiyasu was playing for Japan at the Tokyo Olympics and is fit, which means that there should not be any problem with his medical.
That Arsenal are flying out a doctor to Italy this afternoon indicates that they are confident of getting a deal done now.
It remains to be seen how much Arsenal will pay Bologna for Tomiyasu.
Tomiyasu is a very good and promising young defender who is only 22, which means that he can only get better in the coming years.
The Japan international can play as a centre-back or as a right-back, which means that he will give Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta two options.
Tomiyasu scored two goals in 31 Serie A appearances last season, and scored one goal and gave three assists in 29 league games in 2019-20.
