Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham Hotspur are heading into the new Premier League season with their tails up.

Pre-season has gone fairly well, the team has looked vibrant, strong and scored many goals for fun.

Added to that, Tottenham have backed their manager in the summer transfer market and more could yet arrive before the window slams shut.

As soon as the previous campaign ended, the London club brought back Timo Werner on a season-long loan deal, before Tottenham secured the transfer of Archie Gray from Leeds United.

The highly-rated teenager has looked strong in pre-season and is probably ready to start his side’s opening game away at Leicester City on Monday night.

And most recently, Tottenham secured the signing of striker Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth in a club-record deal.

This is further proof that the Europa League side mean serious business ahead of the new season and their desperate desire to win a trophy.

Former Arsenal man Perry Groves hailed Spurs for signing Solanke and how it’s ‘really good business’, as he told talkSPORT (11/08/24).

Groves couldn’t help but mention how Solanke, who came through the ranks at Chelsea, is a boyhood Arsenal fan.

The north London derby will feature pretty early in the season, with Mikel Arteta’s title chasers making the short trip to their rivals in September and it’s a great chance for Solanke to announce himself.

Tottenham hailed for signing Dominic Solanke

“He is channelling his inner Benty (Darren Bent),” said Groves about Solanke supporting Arsenal but playing for Spurs. “You want him to get on the phone to Benty. He used to go into training with his Arsenal kit underneath his Spurs training stuff.

“I think that’s a brilliant signing for Spurs. He fits. Also, it shows what a good coach Andoni Iraola is to get that out of him.

“Solanke just looks more confident and that’s really good business for Spurs.”

How many goals will Dominic Solanke score for Tottenham?

The 26-year-old produced his best goalscoring campaign last term by netting 19 for a Bournemouth side that didn’t win their first nine league matches.

If Spurs get off to the same type of start as they did last season, then there is no reason why Solanke can’t and won’t feast on all the goals that are on offer.

This is his chance to hit 20+ Premier League goals for the first time in his career and show the world why he was so highly rated at Chelsea.

Harry Kane has given his verdict on Solanke at Tottenham and if he can get anywhere near to his numbers, then he will become an instant hero.
