Arsenal want Jesper Lindstrom but Eintracht Frankfurt seemingly aren’t planning to let him leave in the January transfer window.

The Gunners have been dealt a major blow today with youngster Emile Smith Rowe now ruled out for over two months having undergone surgery.

That leaves Arsenal short of an attacking midfield option and they may be tempted into the market in January.

A versatile attacking midfielder who can play out wide would be ideal, especially with Bukayo Saka lacking competition on the right side.

Arsenal want Jesper Lindstrom

Fans are understandably clamouring for Mykhaylo Mudryk, but Frankfurt star Lindstrom is now a name to keep close tabs on.

Calciomercato reported last week that Arsenal are battling with Barcelona for the signature of Lindstrom.

Bild have backed that up, suggesting that Arsenal could launch a January bid for the Dane.

Lindstrom, 22, has bagged three goals in 10 games this season and has played as a number 10, left winger and right winger.

That’s exactly the kind of versatility Arsenal are seeking and maybe their interest shouldn’t be a huge surprise.

Arsenal’s interest in Lindstrom was first reported in March 2021, when the playmaker was still emerging in Denmark with Brondby.

Lindstrom ended up at Frankfurt instead and impressed last season, bagging five goals and nine assists across all competitions.

Lindstrom is now gearing up for Denmark’s World Cup campaign, where Arsenal will see him in action against Tunisia, France and Australia.

Smith Rowe’s injury and the exit of Nicolas Pepe may well tempt Arsenal into a deal – but Frankfurt won’t be selling without a fight.

Sporting director Markus Krosche has now told Bild that Frankfurt have no plans to sell key players during the January window.

That means Arsenal will have come up with a big offer if they want to sign Lindstrom in January, which is a notoriously difficult window for big deals.

“For us it is not a goal to give up top performers during the winter break. We want to keep our key players,” said Krosche.
