There’s a bit of speculation about Ferran Torres joining Arsenal cropping up.

Last week, German outlet Bild – as covered by HITC Sport – reported that Arsenal were challenging Tottenham Hotspur for the Barcelona attacker’s signature.

The Gunners desperately needed added firepower in January after discovering that Gabriel Jesus would be absent for a period of around three months with a knee injury.

But is Ferran Torres joining Arsenal actually realistic? Well, not going by the figures.

The 22-year-old former Manchester City forward joined the Camp Nou outfit in 2021.

And like most Barcelona talents, his release clause is ridiculous.

According to the Manchester Evening News, his buyout clause in Catalonia is approximately £871 million, meaning that there’s just no way Arsenal – or anyone – will be affording him anytime soon.

Of course, it’s quite rare that Barca can actually sell any of their players for the release clause in question, so he certainly wouldn’t leave for that amount.

That being said, Arsenal still probably can’t afford him.

This is a brilliant young player under contract until the year 2027.

The Primera Division outfit cannot demand £871 million and reasonably expect to get it, but Torres is still worth an absolute fortune to Barcelona.

And unfortunately, there’s just no way that the North Londoners are going to be able to afford him anytime soon.
