Arsenal could now pinch an ideal backup for Bukayo Saka from Chelsea as the Blues find themselves in a sticky situation.
What’s the story?
Well – according to The Athletic – Chelsea need to sell players before Friday 30th June to meet Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations after spending more than £600m on new signings across the last two transfer windows.
Therefore, a fire sale is expected at Stamford Bridge, which should alert Arsenal to Noni Madueke.
The England Under-21 international only joined Chelsea back in January when sealing a £29m switch from PSV Eindhoven.
However, Madueke – who, like Saka, cuts inside from the right onto his stronger left foot – has endured a tough time in west London, making just two Premier League starts.
Graham Potter – the man who signed him – has also been sacked.
Therefore, it remains to be seen if the new permanent manager at Stamford Bridge – once Frank Lampard departs at the end of the campaign – even wants to keep Madueke.
Arsenal should send Madueke bid to Chelsea
It seems farfetched to suggest that Arsenal sign a player who only moved clubs a matter of months ago.
However, Chelsea find themselves backed into a corner by FFP, and Arsenal should take advantage.
The Sun claimed that Mikel Arteta wanted to sign Madueke in 2021 as he made a name for himself in the Netherlands.
Like Saka, the 21-year-old loves to dribble at opponents out on the right flank, and with Champions League football on the schedule for Arsenal next season, they need cover for their No.7 as fixture congestion is guaranteed.
As things stand, Arsenal do not really have anybody like Saka in the attacking department, as the likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson are all right footed.
