This was a much-needed victory for Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur over Crystal Palace because it keeps them in the hunt to secure Champions League football at the end of the season.

When Guglielmo Vicario watched Eberechi Eze whip his free-kick past him in the second half, he and his teammates would have been fearing the worst.

But Tottenham, thanks to a first goal from Timo Werner, followed by Cristian Romero’s header and then Son Heung-min’s sweeping finish ensured the points were staying home.

After the game, Guglielmo Vicario and Giovani Lo Celso were keen to praise the efforts of Micky van de Ven at the back.

The Tottenham duo waxed lyrical about their teammate on Instagram and how he marshalled the troops from a defensive standpoint.

The £43 million signing has been an outstanding player following his summer purchase and has quickly become a key player under Ange Postecoglou.

And going by the comments section from his latest IG post, you imagine he is also well-thought-of in the dressing room, not just by those in the stands.

Micky van de Ven praised

Lo Celso wrote ‘what a player’, whilst Vicario added ‘Another level of football, my brother’.

Micky van de Ven’s importance

A number of big few months remain for Spurs in their quest to finish in the top four and van de Ven has to remain fit for it all.

Given the high-risk football Tottenham play, if their flying Dutchman, who is the quickest player in the Premier League, isn’t playing for one reason or another, then it is damaging for them.

That was proven during the period he spent on the sidelines, alongside suspensions to Romero and also the injury to James Maddison.

But at such a crucial stage of the season, Tottenham’s key players are back and firing to hunt down Champions League football.
