Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to face Leicester City on Monday night but Yves Bissouma seemingly will not be involved.

Here we go again then, another Premier League season is on the horizon and Tottenham Hotspur have high hopes.

Spurs finished fifth in the Premier League last season, narrowly missing out on a place in the Champions League.

Tottenham will help to go one step further this season, though dealing with the Europa League workload will not be easy.

Spurs have managed to strike a couple of big deals with Archie Gray arriving from Leeds United before Tottenham snapped up Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth

Lucas Bergvall is already making an impact whilst Timo Werner is back for another loan spell as Tottenham seek progress under Ange Postecoglou.

Ange Postecoglou on Yves Bissouma

Tottenham face a potential banana skin in the first game of the season.

Spurs head to take on Leicester City, who won promotion from the Championship but have lost manager Enzo Maresca and star midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to Chelsea.

Tottenham will be looking to start with a win on the road but midfielder Yves Bissouma won’t be part of the plans.

Bissouma apologised earlier this week after a video emerged of him inhaling nitrous oxide.

Tottenham vowed to look into the situation as Bissouma admitted a ‘severe lack of judgment’.

The incident will now cost Bissouma a first appearance of the season on Monday.

Spurs boss Postecoglou has told Football London that Tottenham have decided to suspend Bissouma from Monday’s game.

Postecoglou noted that Bissouma has made a ‘poor decision’ and he must now rebuild trust within the Tottenham setup.

Postecoglou added that Bissouma was ‘very apologetic’ but just needs to show the right behaviour moving forward.

“Been in the game for a long time, when a situation like this arises, I’ve tried to look at them in a couple of ways. First there’s a person and it’s Biss and he’s made a poor decision,” said Postecoglou. “There are still sanctions involved, and some of those are educational. He is a footballer with responsibilities.”

“He won’t be available on Monday. We’ve suspended him from Monday’s game. He needs to build that trust back with both me and the group. The door is open for him and we can help him realise the decisions he makes impact the group.”

“Behaviour mate. It’s that simple. It’s about making better decisions. He was very apologetic to me, the club and everyone involved but that’s just part of it,” he added when asked how Bissouma can get back in the good books.

Tottenham Hotspur need another holding midfielder

Postecoglou isn’t completely shutting Bissouma out here and there is still a big chance for him to play a key role this season.

The reality is though that Tottenham need to have another natural option in defensive midfield.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been offloaded to Marseille and Tottenham don’t have proven competition for Bissouma as a ‘number six’.

Perhaps Gray will grow into that role, maybe Bergvall will feature in that deeper role.

Tottenham ideally need to find another defensive midfield option though with Postecoglou’s back line needing some more protection.

Bissouma’s form was up and down last season and if Postecoglou can’t fully rely on him right now, Spurs need to be ready to move in the market.
