Florian Plettenburg has taken to Twitter to provide an update on Bayern Munich and their pursuit of Tottenham talisman Harry Kane.

What’s the story?

Well, it was Alfredo Pedulla who claimed that Julian Nagelsmann wants to bring the England international to the Allianz Arena this summer.

Now, however, Plettenburg – a journalist for Sky Germany – has poured cold water on the speculation.

The German revealed that a representative of Kane told him there has been no contact with Bayern Munich, although that was all – interestingly, they did not quash the rumour outright.

You can see what Plettenburg wrote on Twitter in full below.

In our view, this deal has no chance of happening.

Bayern Munich do not tend to splash out huge sums, especially not on a 28-year-old who is likely to cost a fee in the region of £150m – potentially more given the stubbornness of Daniel Levy.

The German giants are already set to part with £40m as they look to sign Sadio Mane, so we can’t see them splashing the cash on Kane as well.

Harry Kane could now stay at Tottenham forever

In our view, Kane could now retire at Tottenham.

The Daily Mail believe he is now happy at Spurs, after Antonio Conte guided the north Londoners back into the Champions League at the first time of asking.

Kane turns 29 in July, and it feels unlikely that a European giant will spend over £100m on him when he now carries little resale value, and wouldn’t be a long-term investment by any means.

Therefore, we wouldn’t be surprised to see him spend the rest of his career in N17.

Last summer felt like the ideal time for Kane to leave Tottenham, but after Manchester City refused to improve their £100m bid, the ship sailed.

Now, it would be a huge shock if Bayern Munich – or any club, for that matter – managed to sign the Tottenham talisman.
