Wilson Odobert started life as a Tottenham player by helping his team secure a 4-0 win over Everton on Saturday.
Tottenham secured Odobert’s signing from Burnley and Ange Postecoglou didn’t waste any time to, not only hand him his debut, but also his first start.
Spurs fans have asked and cried for attacking football and they are getting that in bucketloads with their new manager.
Postecoglou named a very attacking XI, with Son Heung-min leading the line, new boy Odobert on the flanks, alongside the criticised Brennan Johnson, and Dejan Kulusevki with James Maddison in the middle.
Tottenham dropped points at Leicester last Monday and they would have been eager to put their lack of ruthless nature right against a pretty abject Everton team.
Alan Shearer touched upon how the London club were ‘more ruthless’ than they were at the King Power Stadium and how he liked what he saw from the new kid on the block.
Odobert proceeded to play just over an hour before being replaced by Richarlison, with with scoreline 2-0 at that time, before they finished off the job towards the end.
Spurs will visit Shearer’s old stomping ground of St James’ Park and Newcastle next – a place that has proven to be a nightmare for them in recent times.
And you suspect Odobert will keep his place in his XI, with Shearer thinking he was ‘very good’ and ‘lively’ in his first start for Spurs, as he told The Rest is Football.
Tottenham trash Everton 4-0
“Tottenham were brilliant, they were far more ruthless than they were against your team Gaz (Lineker) a week ago,” said Shearer.
“They had to be. He made three changes. Moved Son into the middle. They were much better. They had a lot of energy, created chances and put their chances away. They looked like a really good team, Spurs.
“Very good. Very good. I thought he (Odobert) was really lively, really energetic and he brought a different dimension. Give-go. He had a really good understanding of who and what they are. I was impressed.”

Tottenham’s attacking depth
Solanke made his Tottenham debut at Leicester and looked lively, but recently picked up an unfortunate injury.
When you add him in and then the likes of Richarlison, Timo Werner and Lucas Bergvall on the bench, then the depth is there.

Not forgetting that Postecoglou played an ultra-attacking team against Everton and he will probably add more defensive cover for the trip to Newcastle.
This is Tottenham’s chance to prove that they have learnt their lesson, and in some cases, the best way to do that is by attacking to defend.
