Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League season is over and now fans are looking forward to what happens next.
Ange Postecoglou has brought a new lease of life to the club and it has got many excited about the long-term future.
But whilst supporters wait for the new season, there is the small matter of Euro 2024 and Copa America taking centre stage this summer.
Tottenham will have several players repping their colours in these tournaments and you can bet your bottom dollar those at Hotspur Way will be cheering them on.
For some, it’s obvious who is going to be playing in these tournaments.
Cristian Romero will be looking to defend his Copa America crown with Argentina and Micky van de Ven is hoping to impress in his first big tournament with the Netherlands.
But for James Maddison, it’s probably a holiday to Greece or Dubai because he has been booted out by England.
Alan Brazil stated that the call to axe the Spurs playmaker from England’s Euro 2024 squad is ‘strange’ and that he likes Maddison as a player, as he told talkSPORT (06/06/24 at 6:10 am).
England recorded a friendly win over Bosnia this week and Tottenham’s £40 million signing came off the bench.
There is another friendly game against Iceland coming up, but it seems as though Gareth Southgate has already told Maddison that he won’t be going.
James Maddison axed by England ahead of Euro 2024
“What do you make of this, I find this strange,” said Brazil about Maddison’s axe. “Is Jude going to play? It’s horrible. I don’t know why they take so many (on having a 33-man squad before cutting it down to 26). Even one extra isn’t good, unless they take a young kid and say ‘I am giving you a bit of experience here’.
“These modern-day footballers right, is it really important ‘I got 27 caps or I got 47 caps?’ I think if you play for your country at a big tournament, it’s great.
“I like his spirit. When he is on his game ‘give me the ball’. I do like him as a player.”

James Maddison’s Tottenham Hotspur form
The 27-year-old started like a house on fire and after ten Premier League games had five goals and three assists.
Spurs were sitting top of the table and then they got smoked at home by Chelsea, with their star playmaker getting injured, alongside van de Ven.

That derailed the team’s season and Maddison returned months later not looking like the same player.
Postecoglou even dropped him for big games, such as Chelsea and Liverpool away towards the end of the campaign, so he can’t have any complaints about being dropped by his country.
There is too much creative talent in front of him. Phil Foden was voted Player of the Year, Jude Bellingham just won the Champions League with Real Madrid and Cole Palmer has had the season of his life at Chelsea.
