Many Rangers fans would love to see Frank de Boer return as the club’s manager.
Guido Albers, the agent of manager Frank de Boer, has told Tutto Mercato Web that his client is only interested in taking a job for next season rather than immediately.
De Boer, 46, was billed as one of the most impressive young managers in Europe during his time in charge of Ajax, having won four league titles between 2011 and 2014.
Ajax’s dominance of Dutch football ended in 2015 as PSV Eindhoven won the Eredivisie title back, and after they retained the crown in 2016, De Boer decided to leave Ajax in search of a new challenge.

The Dutchman actually spent three months out of work before moving on to Inter Milan, but he took charge of just 14 games, and was sacked after less than three months in the San Siro hotseat, winning only five times.
De Boer has been linked with jobs since leaving Inter in November, but his agent Guido Albers has now told Tutto Mercato Web that his client won’t be considering any immediate opportunities, as he wants to take over a team for the start of next season.

Albers added that he has received offers for De Boer’s services, but no jobs will be considered right now, with Spain, Germany, England, France or even Italy suggested as countries where De Boer could thrive.
Frank De Boer
“Yes, there’s no doubt about that,” said Albers when asked whether De Boer is waiting until the end of the season. “Frank is waiting and waiting for an important project, the right one for his ideas. So yes, I am not taking account of offers to return to work immediately. Proposals have arrived, and there have been many. Even in the immediate post-farewell at Inter, we received several calls.”
“But, as mentioned earlier, he believes only starting work from next season. He is open to all possibilities. Frank is a coach with great preparation and quality, he would have no problem to adapt. He might do well in La Liga, Bundesliga, Premier League, Ligue 1 and Serie A too,” he added.
De Boer’s future is particularly interesting given that many Rangers fans are keen to see him return to Ibrox as the club’s manager, with pressure mounting on current boss Mark Warburton.
De Boer scored twice in 17 games for Rangers as a player, and with Warburton failing to challenge Celtic this season, supporters would love to see the Dutchman return to Ibrox as a replacement.
Brother Ronald de Boer avoided the question of whether Frank would be interested in the Rangers post when asked on Alan Brazil’s Breakfast Show on talkSPORT on Wednesday morning, giving Gers fans some hope that a stunning deal could be pulled off.
However, Albers’ comments may suggest that De Boer is aiming a little higher than Rangers. We’ve already seen Warburton struggle to make Rangers a title challenger on a budget some way short of Celtic’s, and with ambitions of a move to the Premier League or La Liga, Rangers would come up short financially.

Appointing De Boer would be a huge statement of intent from Rangers, but they would be relying on his prior ties to the club to strike a deal – and whilst he remains popular at Ibrox, his links to the club may not be quite strong enough for him to snub offers from elsewhere to take on the challenge with Rangers.
