Tottenham Hotspur finally have a new manager with Nuno Espirito Santo on board… could he move for Adama Traore?
It took a long, long time for Tottenham to find their new manager. More than two months after sacking Jose Mourinho, to be a little more exact.
In comes Mourinho’s former Porto goalkeeper Nuno, who returns to the Premier League very quickly having left Wolverhampton Wanderers at the end of last season.
Nuno will be expected to bring a more attractive brand of football to Tottenham, and he may well have some signing in mind to bolster his squad.
Fabio Paratici will be in charge of transfers having been appointed as director of football at Tottenham, but Nuno will absolutely have a say on who is coming in this summer.
Now, Eurosport journalist Dean Jones has told The Football Terrace that Nuno wanted to bring Wolves winger Adama Traore to Crystal Palace whilst in talks with the Eagles – and they were willing to do that deal.
That was seemingly a pre-requisite for Nuno getting the Palace job, but the move still fell apart.
Jones suggests that it’s now reasonable to suggest that Nuno would want Traore at Tottenham too, with the Portuguese possibly keen to engineer a reunion no matter where he ended up.

“Keep an eye out on Adama Traore,” said Jones. “I’m not saying he’s necessarily what Tottenham need, but when Nuno was going to go to Crystal Palace, he wanted them to do a deal for Adama Traore as part of him coming in.”
“Palace were kind of open to it, but only if he signed his papers first, and he didn’t, so that whole thing broke down. It wouldn’t surprise me if Adama is on the [Tottenham] radar as well,” he added.
Branded ‘unplayable’ by Jurgen Klopp, Traore’s blend of strength and blistering speed as caused mayhem in the Premier League, and his end product has largely improved gradually.
Wolves allegedly want £40million for Traore, so it will be fascinating to see whether Tottenham are willing to splash that kind of cash on the former Barcelona talent.
