Everton supporters have reacted to the rumours that they are leading the charge for Lucas Vazquez’s signature.
The Daily Star previously reported Everton’s interest in the Real Madrid winger and now they are seemingly leading the race for his talents.
Everton supporters aren’t impressed with the rumours, but it’s understandable why those links would be there given that Vazquez was coming through the ranks at Madrid when Carlo Ancelotti was in charge.
Over the course of this season, Vazquez has played 31 matches in all competitions, scoring two goals and supplying seven assists (Transfermarkt).
It’s pretty clear that Everton fans want a more proven and younger performer than the versatile 29-year-old.
Whilst the wide areas isn’t a major problem for Everton, there is a lack of consistency in those areas, especially from the likes of Alex Iwobi and Bernard.
If Everton want to push for Europe, and they might head towards the Europa League, at the very least for next season, then they don’t just need quality, but depth will be needed.
Either way, Vazquez isn’t a player Everton fans have had on their wishlist when thinking of attackers their club could snap up in the summer.
