According to the Daily Star (28/02, p45), Tottenham Hotspur are back in the hunt for Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez.

It’s claimed that Vazquez is considering his options given that his Real contract comes to an end this summer.

Real have made a new offer to Vazquez, but he has rejected that deal and looks increasingly likely to become a free agent this summer.

Everton remain keen on a deal, but Spurs are now back in the hunt having been linked with Vazquez many months ago.

The Sunday Mirror (28/06, p68) claimed that Spurs were looking into a deal for Vazquez, with Jose Mourinho pursuing a £16million deal.

Mourinho could now land Vazquez for absolutely nothing, and he may be familiar with the Spaniard; Vazquez was emerging in the Real ranks when Mourinho was in charge there.

Now 29, Vazquez has played 26 first-team games this season, recording two goals and five assists in all competitions.

He has played as a right winger and right back under Zinedine Zidane, with his versatility potentially appealing to Mourinho – as well as his potential free agent status.

Everton will be a threat with another ex-Real boss in Carlo Ancelotti, and Real are running out of time to convince Vazquez to stay put amid outside interest.
