Simon Jordan has given his honest verdict on the rumours surrounding Frank Lampard becoming the interim manager of Chelsea.

It was claimed on Wednesday that the Blues legend could take over his former club after Graham Potter’s sacking was made official by the club website.

As the rumours continue to circulate about Frank Lampard returning to Chelsea as a potential caretaker manager, Simon Jordan has reacted to the news.

Lampard’s stock is the lowest it has even been during his managerial career after he was sacked halfway through the campaign in favour of now-Everton boss Sean Dyche.

The same was the case at Stamford Bridge as Thomas Tuchel went on to replace him mid-season and went on to win the Champions League.

As Frank Lampard could return to Chelsea in his second stint as interim manager, Simon Jordan has slammed the potential appointment.

“I think it would be laughable. I think Frank Lampard was an abject failure towards the end at Everton. I think the culture at Chelsea was poor towards the end [of Lampard’s tenure]. Player’s that have now gone, I grant you [Antonio] Rudiger, Frank marginalised”, he told talkSPORT.

“I think in certain quarters Chelsea are a laughing stock. Why would they want to compound that and make themselves an even bigger laughing stock by bringing Frank Lampard to sit in situ? I’m sorry, Frank’s a nice fella but that’s irrelevant.”

“Why would Frank want to do it? It’s diminishing him. He’d be doing everyone a favour by turning up and getting a gig and second of all, you’ve been down that route. Get on with appointing a big-name manager if that’s what you want to do.”

Many may be inclined to agree with Simon Jordan as the news about Chelsea reportedly being ready to make Frank Lampard their manager has been laughed off online.
