Arsenal lost out to Chelsea in the race to sign Mykhaylo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk in the January transfer window.

The Gunners were determined to sign the Ukraine international, but eventually decided not to match Chelsea’s offer as the Blues paid £89m and also handed the forward a contract worth £97,000-a-week.

That is according to The Athletic.

Now – as detailed by the Telegraph – Mudryk may be feeling a tinge of regret.

What’s the story?

Well, it is said that the new signings made by Chelsea in January – such as Mudryk, Joao Felix and Enzo Fernandez – are shocked at the amount of pressure they already find themselves under at Stamford Bridge.

It comes amid a time where Arsenal continue their excellent form and sit two points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.

Therefore, Mudryk may be kicking himself that he chose to join Chelsea instead.

The 22-year-old is yet to score or assist a goal for the Blues in five Premier League appearances so far.

Mudryk also failed to register a goal involvement in 71 minutes as Chelsea suffered a 1-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League Round of 16.

Arsenal could help Mudryk at Chelsea

Interestingly, Arsenal are now said to be keen on signing Raheem Sterling from Chelsea – according to 90min.

Mikel Arteta has enjoyed the influence of an experienced addition in Jorginho, and is therefore looking to add more knowhow to his young squad in the form of the England international.

If that deal does end up materialising this summer, it could actually help Mudryk progress at Chelsea, as a rival for one of the attacking positions under Graham Potter would be out of the way.

Hopefully, the Ukrainian can find his feet in English football soon, as he looked capable of becoming a world beater at Shakhtar Donetsk.
