Tottenham and Liverpool target Milan Skriniar is now delaying contract talks with Inter Milan as he waits for Spurs to make a move.

What’s the story?

Well, by the sounds of it, the Slovakia international wants to reunite with Antonio Conte in N17 – according to Rudy Galetti.

It comes after Inter Live claimed that Liverpool are interested in signing Skriniar.

Speaking to TuttoJuve, the Italian journalist Galetti said: “It will take a few days to decide his future. He’s wasting time to understand how possible a transfer to Tottenham is, a club looking for a central defender.

“The English also like Kim and Bastoni. The Slovak is more attractive because of his expiring contract. It will take a few more days to know the future at Milan.”

As you can see, Kim Min-jae of Napoli and Alessandro Bastoni of Inter Milan are also on the shortlist.

However, Skriniar only has six months remaining on his £91,000-a-week contract at the San Siro, so he arguably represents the most realistic centre-back signing Tottenham could make this month.

Tottenham must bid for Liverpool target Skriniar

In our view, Fabio Paratici has to use his contacts in Italy to ensure Tottenham beat Liverpool to Skriniar.

The 27-year-old is clearly interested in joining Spurs based on Galetti’s comments, and Conte could certainly do with another centre-back as the likes of Davinson Sanchez and Clement Lenglet fail to impress.

Skriniar has previously made 81 appearances under Conte for Inter Milan, with the pair winning the Serie A title together back in 2021.

Therefore, it would make sense to target the Inter Milan No.37 this month – a January move often makes it difficult for players to settle in a new country, but the presence of Conte could alleviate that.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Skriniar could end up at Tottenham this month.
