Leeds United are reportedly interested in Adama Traore this summer.

A fortnight ago, Team Talk claimed that Leeds’ director of football Victor Orta was interested in bringing the Spain international to Elland Road during the transfer window.

And in midweek, journalist Dean Jones revealed that the prospect of Traore joining the Whites was ‘definitely alive’.

Tottenham were a genuine threat to the West Yorkshire outfit for Traore.

After all, Fabio Paratici tried to sign him in January, only for the player to elect for a transfer to Barcelona instead [The Daily Star].

And it was reported that Spurs still wanted to sign him during the summer window, too.

However, their £60 million deal for Richarlison [The Athletic] could open up the door for Leeds to push ahead and sign the powerful winger.

With Champions League football on offer, Traore – labelled ‘exceptional‘ by Patrick Bamford – could’ve very easily agreed to finally join Antonio Conte’s side had they renewed an interest.

But after splashing the cash on Richarlison, another wide player, it’s safe to say that the former Barcelona product won’t be going to North London this summer.

And if you’re Leeds, this is definitely a boost because, as mentioned, those in North London represented a legitimate threat if they were genuinely interested.

It remains to be seen whether Orta and Jesse Marsch can lure him to Elland Road.

All we know for relative certainty is that Tottenham aren’t interested and so long as they’re out of the picture, Leeds have a much better chance.
