Tottenham are said to be seriously interested in signing Josko Gvardiol for Antonio Conte – however, they could now lose out to Real Madrid.
What’s the story?
Well, it was the Telegraph who revealed that Spurs want to sign the Croatia international, who delivered an outstanding performance in the 0-0 draw against Belgium yesterday to help his nation progress at the World Cup.
Now, however, Gvardiol has admitted that he would love to play for Real Madrid.
Speaking to Relevo, the 20-year-old said: “Real Madrid is the biggest club in the world, so who knows. Maybe one day I can play there. I would like to, yes.”
Of course, that doesn’t rule Tottenham and Conte out of the race for his signature entirely.
However, it does prove that Gvardiol will take some convincing over a move to north London if Real Madrid express even a glimpse of an interest in his services.
The RB Leipzig No.32 has made 19 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga side so far this season, scoring one goal – he has truly emerged as a key player for the German outfit.
Gvardiol has attracted even more attention with his displays at the World Cup, especially in the aforementioned draw against Belgium on Thursday afternoon.

If Carlo Ancelotti was watching Gvardiol against Belgium, the Italian will surely be tempted to submit a bid.
The Croatian wonderkid kept the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne quiet with a phenomenal display, in which he recorded a pass success rate of 95% while also making nine clearances and five recoveries – as FotMob shows.
Furthermore, Gvardiol won two out of three duels, and even created a goalscoring opportunity.
