Tottenham target Anthony Gordon has now missed another training session as a move to Newcastle looks on.

What’s the story?

Well, it was the Daily Mail who claimed that Spurs want to sign the England Under-21 international, while the BBC believe Newcastle are very interested.

Now, Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports has revealed that Gordon missed training with the Everton first-team at Finch Farm today, having also failed to turn up on Tuesday along with Amadou Onana.

It has been quite the week already for Everton.

Frank Lampard received the sack following Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to West Ham, Arnaut Danjuma ditched the Toffees for Tottenham, Sam Allardyce has been linked with a return, and Farhad Moshiri is now trying to sell the Merseysiders.

As a result, those at Goodison Park will surely be furious with Gordon, who has decided to pour salt in the wounds amid what is a very tough time for the Toffees.

The 21-year-old has scored three goals in 16 Premier League appearances so far this season, but was left on the bench in the aforementioned loss to West Ham after fizzling out.

Gordon set to join Newcastle over Tottenham

As the Everton No.10 misses another day of training, it seems as if he is destined to join Newcastle.

The Telegraph claim that Newcastle believe they have beaten Chelsea to the 21-year-old’s signature, with Sky Sports adding that £40m is likely to be enough to strike an agreement.

Gordon is expected on Tyneside before the weekend to complete his move to Newcastle – again according to the Telegraph.

Eddie Howe has been focused on signing another forward after allowing Chris Wood to join Nottingham Forest on loan, and it seems the Magpies have found their man in the unsettled Everton wonderkid.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as things are developing rather quickly.
