Arsenal and Newcastle target Ivan Fresneda could now be moving to England amid reports he is close to joining the Magpies.

What’s the story?

Well, it was the Daily Mail who revealed that Eddie Howe and Mikel Arteta both want to sign the 18-year-old.

After that story broke, Spanish football expert Fernando Kallas told Sky Sports that Fresneda was already saying his goodbyes to the Real Valladolid squad as he closed in on a move to Newcastle.

Now, there has been a fresh development.

Luis Bardaji – the agent of Fresneda – has posted an Instagram photo showing his location to be Kensington, London, as you can see below.

Of course, Arsenal fans will argue that this surely means Fresneda is more likely to join them than he is Newcastle.

However, supporters who paid attention to the Alexander Isak saga will remember the Sweden international being seen in Selfridges, which sparked Arsenal fans into a frenzy, only for him to join Newcastle.

Fresneda has a release clause of €30m (£27m) written into his contract with Real Valladolid.

So far this season, the teenager has made shockwaves in Spanish football across his eight appearances in La Liga, where he has delivered some incredible performances from right-back.

Newcastle beating Arsenal to Fresneda poses questions

Newcastle’s interest in Fresneda poses plenty of questions, given the fact Kieran Trippier is shining at right-back so far this season.

Will Howe loan the teenager back to Real Valladolid or another side? Or will he keep the Spain Under-19 international as backup for the England international?

It remains to be seen what happens, although the standout from this move is what it could mean for Emil Krafth and Javier Manquillo, both of whom are currently backups for Trippier in the right-back department.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as we expect further developments soon.
