On Thursday, Everton announced the £20m signing of Dwight McNeil, a player who was also wanted by West Ham and Tottenham.
The Toffees also managed to win the race for the 22-year-old’s signature ahead of Crystal Palace and Newcastle.
There were some question marks over the signing, as McNeil failed to score in 40 appearances last season.
However, Everton’s new No.7 silenced his doubters with a stunning debut last night.
What’s the story?
Well, McNeil enjoyed a dream debut at Goodison Park last night against Dynamo Kyiv, scoring twice against the Ukrainian giants as Everton recorded a 3-0 win.
The England Under-21 international’s first goal showcased his excellent dribbling ability and long-range shooting technique, as he drove forward before smashing an effort into the bottom right corner.

Then, McNeil displayed his aerial ability as he ghosted in between the Dynamo Kyiv defenders to nod home a fine cross from Ruben Vinagre – another new boy at Goodison Park.
After watching his exquisite debut, those who missed out on the £20m man may be kicking themselves.
West Ham & Tottenham have other business to attend to
It isn’t the end of the world for West Ham or Tottenham after missing out on McNeil.
In West Ham’s case, the Hammers are in talks to sign the 2022 Europa League Player of the Year Filip Kostic.
The east Londoners have already seen a £12.5m bid rejected, but a deal can be done for £17m.
Interestingly, Kostic has already rejected offers from two Champions League sides, but is considering a move to the London Stadium.

Elsewhere, Tottenham are currently in talks to sign Roma maestro Nicolo Zaniolo, who is said to be the No.1 target for Antonio Conte this summer.
The Italian side are supposedly happy to sell their No.22 in order to afford more signings for José Mourinho.
Keep an eye on both situations, as we should see some developments soon.
