Earlier today, Crystal Palace and West Ham officially missed out on Dwight McNeil as Everton announced his arrival from Burnley.

Both the Eagles and the Hammers held talks with the Clarets over a deal for the 22-year-old, but he has now moved to Goodison Park for a sum of £20m.

What’s the story?

Well, Patrick Vieira and David Moyes aren’t the only Premier League managers to miss out.

It was said that Antonio Conte also wanted McNeil at Tottenham, while Newcastle made contact with Burnley as they aimed to provide Eddie Howe with more quality.

Aston Villa also scouted the England Under-21 international.

Now, however, they will all have to look elsewhere.

McNeil has signed a five-year contract at Goodison Park, and will inherit the No.7 shirt which was vacated by Richarlison, following his £60m move to Tottenham.

The winger’s big-money return to the Premier League comes after he made 40 appearances in all competitions for Burnley last season, in which he provided one assist but failed to score a single goal.

What could happen next for Crystal Palace & West Ham

Despite missing out on McNeil, Crystal Palace and West Ham have other targets to pursue.

In regards to the south Londoners, they hold a serious interest in Morgan Gibbs-White, who Wolves are demanding £30m for.

However, Wolves are keen to sign Christian Benteke, so perhaps a player-plus-cash deal can be arranged.

In West Ham’s case, it seems Moyes is trying to sign two players after wrapping up a deal for Gianluca Scamacca.

The Hammers are in talks to sign Filip Kostic from Eintracht Frankfurt, and they are also in negotiations with Napoli over a deal for Piotr Zielinski.

A bid has also been submitted for Lille midfielder Amadou Onana.

Keep an eye on both clubs, as we doubt they’re finished in the transfer market just yet.
