Back in August, Liverpool sent Tyler Morton on loan to Blackburn after the Championship side helped Harvey Elliott with his development in 2020/21.
The 19-year-old endured an unsettled start to life at Ewood Park as Jon Dahl Tomasson was forced to use him in the centre of defence due to an injury crisis.
However, Morton has now returned to a more natural midfield role, where he delivered an outstanding performance in the 2-0 win over Watford on Tuesday evening.
What’s the story?
Well, the teenager played the entire 90 minutes as Blackburn moved up to third in the Championship.
Morton shone in midfield, creating four chances for his teammates while finishing the game with an impressive passing accuracy of 80%, according to FOTMOB.
The England Under-20 international won all four of his attempted tackles, completed six passes into the box, and also made seven recoveries in what was an excellent display from the Liverpool academy graduate.

It comes after Jürgen Klopp described the youngster as an “incredible” footballer, having witnessed his quality up close when inviting the midfielder into first-team training at the AXA Training Centre.
Jordan Henderson has also sung Morton’s praises. The England international told the media that his young Liverpool teammate has “learned and listened” since his breakthrough, making him a better player in the process.
Liverpool must keep tabs on Tyler Morton
Next summer, many expect Liverpool to overhaul their creaking midfield department, which has become stale due to over-reliance on the likes of James Milner, Jordan Henderson and others.
There has been talk of an ambitious move for Jude Bellingham, who would breath new life into the Reds.
However, Klopp needs more than just one midfield addition, so the German must keep tabs on how Morton gets on at Ewood Park ahead of the 2023 summer transfer window.
If he maintains his form, the teenager – who has already made his Premier League and Champions League debut – could save Liverpool millions by stepping up to the plate and becoming a trusted first-team member.
