Alfie Devine may have ended up making headlines for all the wrong reasons for Tottenham’s U23 side on Monday after being sent off against Chelsea, but that didn’t stop some supporters from raving about him.

Indeed, it seems as though his performance aside from the red card caught the eye of some Tottenham supporters, and they were quick to go to praise him on social media.

Of course, the clip that we have all seen by now is his skirmish with Danny Drinkwater, but the moment just before he was hacked down by the former Leicester City man showed just what he’s about as he was quick to his feet and driving the team up the pitch before the Chelsea man kicked out at him.

Devine’s initial challenge was poor in its own right, but aside from his questionable tackling technique, Tottenham fans saw a lot of attributes they liked about him on Monday.

Some supporters even managed to turn his red card into a positive, stating that he reminds them of Dele Alli with his intensity, and while you never want to see a player getting sent off, playing with such intensity is always a good thing.

There were also comparisons to Giovani Lo Celso and Zinedine Zidane, which just shows you how talented he’s looking.

Here’s what supporters were saying about the teenager on social media.
