Newcastle United right-back Kieran Trippier has taken to Twitter to send a message to the fans after his side’s win against Leeds United at Elland Road.

Eddie Howe’s have got the better of Leeds 1-0 away from home at Elland Road in the Premier League today.

Midfielder Jonjo Shelvey scored the only goal of the match in the 75th minute.

Former Tottenham Hotspur right-back Trippier has taken to Twitter to revel in the win and has praised the Newcastle fans for their support.

Big win for Newcastle v Leeds

In our view, the win for Newcastle against Leeds at Elland Road is massive.

It has given the Magpies a huge boost in their quest to escape the dreaded drop to the Championship at the end of the season.

Newcastle are third from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment.

Howe’s side have picked up 15 points from 21 matches.

Newcastle are a point behind 17th-placed Norwich City, who have played 22 games.

We think that Newcastle could now start to pick up more points and eventually escape the drop.

Newcastle signed Trippier from Atletico Madrid in the January transfer window.

Chris Wood also joined the Magpies from Burnley.
