Alan Shearer and Jamie Reuben have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to Newcastle United winning against Leeds United at Elland Road.

Newcastle have got the better of Leeds 1-0 away from home at Elland Road in the Premier League this afternoon.

Jonjo Shelvey scored the only goal of the match in the 75th minute.

Newcastle legend Shearer and co-owner Reuben are delighted with the win for the Magpies, as you can see below.

Big win for Newcastle v Leeds

The win against Leeds means that Newcastle are now third from bottom in the Premier League table.

Eddie Howe’s side have picked up 15 points from 21 matches.

The Magpies are a point behind 17th-placed Norwich City, who have played 22 games.

In our view, the win against Leeds had enhanced Newcastle’s chances of escaping the dreaded drop to the Championship at the end of the season.

Leeds are a good team, but Marcelo Bielsa’s side are also in danger of going down to the Championship at the end of the season.

So, in our opinion, Newcastle’s win today is absolutely brilliant for them.

Newcastle are not back in action until February 8 when they take on Everton at St. James’ Park in the Premier League.

The Toffees are also struggling at the moment.

So, a win for Howe’s team against Everton will be massive for them.
