Former Tottenham star Darren Anderton has suggested on social media that Daniel Levy and Spurs have already decided on giving Nuno Espirito Santo the sack.

Replying to a fan on Twitter, the ex-England international said ‘yes’ when asked if Nuno had been sacked. The Portuguese manager is under increasing pressure following Spurs’ 3-0 loss to Manchester United on Saturday.

As per the Telegraph, crisis talks took place on Sunday between Levy and Fabio Paratici on whether or not Nuno should face the sack. And according to Anderton, Tottenham have made their decision.

Nuno was only appointed in the summer after a long and arduous manager search began after the departure of Jose Mourinho in April. Indeed, the ex-Wolves boss was not the club’s number one choice.

The likes of Erik Ten Hag and Antonio Conte were strongly linked. But Spurs’ efforts proved fruitless in the end. Nuno was appointed just before the start of pre-season. Yet after just four months, the former Valencia manager is seemingly out at Tottenham.

Attentions will now likely turn to who can replace the Portuguese manager. With Newcastle United also looking for a new coach as well, the two clubs could well be battling out for similar targets.

Nuno sack shows Spurs were careless in hiring him in the first place

The Portuguese manager has shown in the handful of matches he has led Tottenham that he was not the right man for the job. And Nuno’s impending sacking should be a huge lesson for the north London club.

Hiring Nuno in the first place was never going to work out given the number of targets Spurs were linked with before the Portuguese coach’s appointment. And now Levy and Paratici must work from square one to find the right manager to lead Tottenham.
